My internship at Zeus Numerix was on the topic "Development and validation of AUSM family of schemes for Oct-tree Grid". My bachelor's thesis work comprehended the design of turbine suitable for Indian wind conditions. I was involved in analysis of track-based turbine using Lagrangian based vortex method. In my master's thesis, I volunteered to extend my work to analyze the various parameters of the turbine for the efficient output.
My present research is on simulating turbulent two-phase (air and suspended sand particles) flows. It involves studying the flow of air governed by the filtered Navier-Stokes equations with a sub-grid-scale model in a Large-Eddy-Simulation setting, while sand particles are modeled using a Lagrangian approach using a version of the Discrete Particle Method. Furthermore, it is proposed to investigate the physical mechanisms necessary for production and sustenance of large-scale electric fields and lightning in sandstorms.
