Research Interests

During my research in the fields of Numerical Methods for Conservation Laws, Finite Element Method, Finite Volume Methods, Lagrangian (Vortex and SPH) Methods and Renewable Wind Energy, my interest and skills have evolved in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics.

My internship at Zeus Numerix was on the topic "Development and validation of AUSM family of schemes for Oct-tree Grid". My bachelor's thesis work comprehended the design of turbine suitable for Indian wind conditions. I was involved in analysis of track-based turbine using Lagrangian based vortex method. In my master's thesis, I volunteered to extend my work to analyze the various parameters of the turbine for the efficient output.

My present research is on simulating turbulent two-phase (air and suspended sand particles) flows. It involves studying the flow of air governed by the filtered Navier-Stokes equations with a sub-grid-scale model in a Large-Eddy-Simulation setting, while sand particles are modeled using a Lagrangian approach using a version of the Discrete Particle Method. Furthermore, it is proposed to investigate the physical mechanisms necessary for production and sustenance of large-scale electric fields and lightning in sandstorms.
